my F1 2009
Part 1: Shell-Ferrari F1 Roadshow @ Ion Orchard, but I wasn't there on day of Raikkonen's visitmy partner Peggy and me, who just had to distribute pamplets on V-Power promotion, and rally for interest from passerbys to try out the F1 simulator's challenge and F1 re-fuelling challenge.

The uniform was a tad too short. I got it extended for another 3"
:P

With Debbie from Evex Events
A glimpse of Debbie trying out the simultor game.
It's better than Daytona i reckon!

Part 2: Shell-Ferrari Charity Auction @ Sentosa Golf Club, but no Raikkonen and Massa this year
Despite no drivers' appearance, the Ferrari apparels still fetched high prices.
The dynamism of signatures on ordinary jackets, bags and caps is amazing, as their prowess has shown in gathering hundred thousands of money for Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund :)
me & Amber at the event

me and Amber with Gladys from Shell, who will be leaving this month.
Congrats to Gladys on ur engagement and upcoming wedding!!

Part 3: Tag Heuer store opening @ Ion Orchard, flanked by Lewis Hamilton
I worked with Kel and Stacy for this event.
It feels so funny to be standing so near to Lewis and feel nothing, yet throbs of people outside were waiting to pounce on him. His enthusiasts mobbed him wherever he move, and as his lady escort for the night, my toes were consistently trodded on by kiasu photographers, fans and the 12 bulky security guards who surround him constantly.
Not fun at all.
Anyway, Melissa took a picture of me in this god-knows-video-from-where, and excited sms-ed me to ask if that was me.
hohoho.
i look not video-genic as always :P

my 3rd BMW Golf event :)

Though i didn't take much pictures at work, I find these pictures really cute!

There're more pictures from Chew Lian's side, but all unposted as every girl took MC from job and worked illegally :P

Peugeot 308 CC Launch
I'm no fan of cars nor bikes, but this was 1 event i truly like.
From the theme setup, to the dress, to the girls who worked with me..and of course dearie worked too!
Procon's events rock sock always! =)
Is the dress nice?
Too bad it is linen and crinkles too easily when we move around..
Amber, Brenda, me, Kel
This is the Peugeot 308. It should be the focus of the show, but on my blog, the focus will always be the PEOPLE.

Isn't the stairs leading to event lovely? I like the glow.

By the way, what is the actual pronounciation of "Peugeot"?
Every Singaporean pronounces it differently, i have heard of variations myself, even from the Peugeot staff.

Twestival SG 2009
Twestival SG 2009(http://singapore.twestival.com/)
This was the event which i truly thank my friends for making it happen. Just getting NEA/ AVA approved food vendors was a nightmare, but thanks to Wailing who very kindly rumaged through her varsity notes & to biying for asking around the NUS USP students, i got the previous contacts for kebab and frozen yoghurt!
Also, my colleagues from other part of the office, who are ever so warm, bubbly and fun - the Studio D peepz, had worked very hard to pull Twestival together. I have learnt so much from them!~
The actual event was fun-filled and successful, despite the last minute organisation :)
Our media coverage:

Setup in morning by me, Amelia, Calvin and May:
Still sleepy-eyed me with Amelia
Amelia totlly smitten with Calvin's dog.
She is raelly adorable!
May and me
Just to share some photos of the actual event:
We got a dunking machine, and brave bloggers volunteered to be dunked in the name of charity.
*applause*
Here, my colleague Tina in-charge of the dunking booth, encouraging event visitors to join in the dunking fun.
Andy taking a good shot at dunking
Melvin, our head of Studio-D was sabotaged to get dunked. He has no choice i guess, considering that his 'fans' accumulated $100 + for him to be dunked! :P
See how he enters the water!
The booths we had at the carnival:
Kebab
Free flow of Coke drinks for the event
Check out our WE-Coke ambassadors: Krish, Matt & Ina
No yoghurt booth pict, but Jing San shows you how yum yum the yoghurt was ;)
In addition, a shout-out to Jing San for agreeing to become our voluntary photographer at such short notice!

I am still in awed of the participants.

2nd time we had cheese fondue, delicious as ever. we gotta master the nicks and nacks of making one ourselves soon!
this time, we had roasted Aussie lamb's leg as well! with roy being a meat-lover and the leg roasted to perfection, i'm sure roy's palate was satisfied and gratified.

my 23rd bday
took me a month to blog about my birthday, i know, but i'm still waiting for pictures from Jamie's hp! :P
part 1it started with a surprise lunch with Maurice and Jamie one day at work, on the 10th Sept. Maurice tricked me to lunch at Sakae Sushi in Wheelock Place, and Jamie bought me a super delicious yum-yum Orange-Choc cake from this famous confectionary in AMK.
**totally l0ve it, thanks dear! less a slice offered to jzh and roy, i finished the rest by myself!
part 2as with every year, roy would arrange a suprise dinner with brenda & jessica, but it is no longer a surprise, because i know we will meet!
we had dinner on the actual day of my birthday this year despite the little miscommunication, cuz jessica had to fly, and couldn't join us at all.
nevertheless, i am a huge buffet fan, and i love to pig out at kuishinbo, so the dinner venue was perfect, complete with unlimited flow of snow crabs and sashimi!
royun, with growling stomachs before bren&gab arrived

me, the happy girl, who devoured all of the crabs
brenda love & me :)

good night kiss before heading separate ways.
It's a pity i have to be early at Twestival the following day, if not i could have joined Bren&Gab at Dempsy for some drinks!

part 3
the following day, chiu wah&qiu yi came to look me up while i was at Twestival. The sun was too hot them, so they didn't really check out our booths and food (a pity, cuz you girls were suppose to appear + SUPPORT my efforts in organising it).
we headed out to Orchard to meetup woth Sok Yin after her yoga class.
lotsa camera-whoring in toilet again (it's the Gold Standard), and dinner was at Heeren's new Waraku.

seems like my birthday this year is Japanese-themed, not that i mind! I love Thai & Jap food! :)

Knightsbridge fashion show
A very special show for me to remember- I call it the Emperor's New Clothes with a twist.
People think we are wearing clothes, but it is an eye-tease. Yes, we wore clothes, but they are not real clothes!
I have turned down several bodypainting assignments as they all require full frontal nudity, I couldn't see myself stripping in the name of art, or for glorious photographs. However I took up this bodypainting fashion show as the models will be modestly covered, since nudity in public is prosecutable by law.
Everything was choreographed by
Nixem, the virtuoso in Body Painting. he took a major part in creating the looks, was the body painter on show day, and was the walkway choreographer- Master in All --> How talented!
And this show was done for the
KnightsBridge mall, though it is still under construction.
FYI: KnightsBridge is a makeover of the former Park Hotel Orchard, the next happening place in town for luxury shopping after Ion and Ngee Ann City.
Prior to the show, i went through a challenging round of casting, which i proudly declare, I PASSED!
challenging as it is not normal catwalking, but catwalking with elements of dance and theatrical posing. Eg, getting in the role of a character, it is not easy for me. I am certainly handicapped in acting, as shown by my Grade C result from Theatre Studies module in varsity days.
On day of show, we reported at 7am in Park Hotel
Cityhall's ballroom, despite the show starting at 8pm in White Rabbit. There's a lot of preparation to be done, and nothing for models to complain, as i feel the backstage makeup artists and designers are the most commendable.
This is the drawout of my 'look' >> supposedly an avant garde look, of a French Lady smoking a long cigarette. I faced much difficulties acting out this role, because for a fact, I am a non-smoker, i don't even know how to make an aesthetically-pleasant pose of holding cigarette on stage (
the most common everyday things have a certain way of holding for photoshoots and on stage). I was chided during rehearsals and determined to make that 'look' work for me, i did research on youtube videos, google images to test out various poses in front of a mirror. It was hardwork but worth every bit of it, because i was superb on the day of show. Other girls were incredulously amazed by the vast improvement in my poses...haa!
Check out the painting materials >> machinery and an assortment of brushes. The Pros!
My makeup, with the super l0ngggg lashes.
This lashes are meant for shows to create a dramatic look, and i love 'em!
Other girls had coloured lashes, patterned lashes even.
Nicole looking pretty in intense blue eye-shadowed eyes, i will look horrible if that makeup was applied on me!
Rachel getting painted on her butt. It's not easy, because the paint were icy cold, and we were almost buff naked and shivering for hours in the cold ballroom! Many people thought we had stick-on bras, but they are not, because stick-on bras will absorb too much of the paint causing wastage and the more the absorb, the stickiness will not work!
We had the cups and boy shorts GLUED onto our body. Imagine, limited toilet-visits!
Adlina doing her makeup.
I love Adlina's look the most: not only does she carry off very well in Charlie Chaplin's clothes, she walks the walk well. If i have a video of her walk, everyone will get what i mean.
Evie in the initial stage of painting by Nixem. Every layer of paint is painstakingly added on to create illusion of the real, with elements of shadowing and gradient colouring.
Evie's black 'boots' getting painted on.
I'm glad i was painted in gold throughout, easier to wash off at home. Those coated thoroughly in black, will have a much longer and 'harder' time in the bathroom.
Though these paint are water soluble, it takes some scrubbing effort to rid off the paint. And we turn the bathroom walls dirty, even the PJs and bedsheets we sleep in...next morning is a mess too.
Me in the initial stage of painting >> makeup done, hair still undone.
Abigail =)
See her cute lashes!
Me fully made-up, and giving thanks to the team of makeup artists who made my 'look' possible. I really appreciate their patience! Nixem is very lucky to have such a great team of delicated makeup artists under his wings!
From Left to Right: yongying, me, evangeline, mel richard
with Marilyn Monroe Evie..looking hot in her outfit and gorgeous blond wig. They have also painted her "Betty Boop" lips, A HIGH RESEMBLANCE i would say!
We were also very hazardous moving around, considering that we were in Wite Rabbit, all of their interior decoration are all WHITE!
See what happens when some girl accidentally press her palm on the walls, and poor Mel Richard has to clean off after each girl's imprint. Poor Mel!
We did an outdoor shoot before the sky turned dusk. We certainly look like a cosplay group!

Royun :)
*dearie was our event photographer as always. Thanks lots dear!
Back stage, everyone doing a toast 'Nixem's style'
i seriously think that tipsy puts me in a better condition to walk; more attitude, more relax. *lolz* but it's a pity that international fashion shows has officially banned ciggies and booze.
Show commences!
Jamie was our host of the show:
Model #1 : Evie
Model #2 : Nicole
Model #3 : Shn
Model #4 : Carol Chin
Model #5 : Marilyn
Model #6 : Abigail
Model #7 : Adlina
Model #8 : Rachel Doss

Nixem & Albert, the brainwave behind the show

Jamie's bday
i had to work for BMW motorbike launch on Friday evening, and had to decline Jamie's invitation for dinner with her family. I'm truly honoured to be asked to join her family! But never did she knew that Royun had planned something extra for her!
It started with me knowing Francis, her other best best bestie since poly days, and i actually liased with Francis and Emil for her present. The theme was decided to be 'relaxation', so we consolidated a bag of joke books, massager, aromotherapy body creams and all for her. Hope all these really will help!
Royun went down to Serangoon Garden's Liquid Kitchen and sprang a surprise on her, Jamie was not as surprised as I thought, but i know she was thrilled! :)
Jamie has always been my soul mate at work, mugging in school, we share almost the same philosophies about family, friendships and money in life. I hope she'll be able to secure a good job upon graduation from school!

Asher's bday, no longer a baby!
royun still remembers clearly the day when baby Asher was born, we went to visit Mrs Chong at Gleneagles, and took turns to hold him, and took many pictures of him. In the twinkling of an eye, he has morphed into an intelligent 4-year old boy =)
How cute, for him to be making small demands to play, asking requests to open his pile of presents, and to say 'Thank You' politely to every adult guest when asked to.
I'm glad i made it for his birthday party this year!
He had a Thomas cake this year. I think his love for Thomas could have been influenced by Aidan, his older brother.

All the children gathering around Asher for the birthday song.
(**Asher is the one in the middle, in red tee-shirt, grinning for all his worth)

The Chong family: Aidan, Mrs Chong, Andy, Asher and Allyssa.
All the 'As'!

In the past, the Chong family always have chocolate fountain as dessert, which every guest will recall fondly, but this time, we have the COTTON CANDY MACHINE.
cotton candy machine in the house? HOW COOL!
I attempted to make 1, after Alan's demonstration. Hey, it's pretty fun!

I think I am a poor student, somehow the shape of my candy didn't look too professional. It ended up looking like a 'heart' shape if I could be BHB and say so...

Bi Ying's bday
Many friends bday come up in Sept, including my own! This is the entry to kick-off a series of birthday celebrations (Lord save my growing tummy, i can't seem to resist go0d food!)
What is the correlation between "good food" and "birthday celebrations"???
:P
Anyway, my whole bunch of NUS psy friends are finally back! BiYing went exchange in US for a year, Lydia went Japan exchange for a year, Mark went to France for 1 semester...we finally metup at Chomp Chomp for Bi ying's bday -cum- our informal gathering. We guys seem to meetup annualy at Chomp Chomp, i guess those who have been overseas for too long, miss yum-yum stingrays and golden BBQ chicky wings!
we gave Bi Ying a yoga mat for present, apparently she has always been wanting one, so this is an excellent present!!
and

after a nice and sinful dinner, we adjourned to Serangoon Gardens MacDonalds for ice cream and chit chat. That's when i happened to find out all about the recent NUS sex scandals...in that short span of 6 mths i've left NUS, there are so many scandals!
We happened to be 'equipped' with all the necessary materials to gossip. It's funny how they were telling me about this youtube video, and Bi Ying instantly brought out her laptop and login to wireless SG to show us this pitch-black video (i see nothing, just heard a lot of dramatic moanings), and when i asked who is the couple, Joseph happened to have a copy of Today newspaper in his school bag and brought it out to show me the face...
it seems i am FATED to know >> who, what, when.
haa!
also, Lydia is super into holga cameras, she brought 2 cameras - 1 Holga, 1 Canon SLR specially to take pictures for all of us!
And this is Lydia:

Finally, a picture of all of us >> reunited! is what i can say.

J03 Gathering
Not sure how many friends still remember that I am in NPCC, but it seems like egons since i last had any blog post on my NPCC activities. They are always not glam to go on fb or blog, but i will still upload the pictures. It is just that i have very little, if not no time to accommodate the timings of school's operation hours anymore...so that means, no more parades in Cedar, nor attending/ organising activities at area/ NUS/ HQ level.
Some of my peers are now prison wardens, police officers, or SAF personnel (given the psych that uniformed people do have the tendency to sign on, that we people love regimental lives, and can get pretty anal sometimes), or those who became teachers and still remain passionate about the corp, are now dubbing in NPCC as OCs or TOs. For me, I always think my association with NPCC will be for life, in my own little ways =)
Anyway, 6 years from passing out out as a Cadet Inspector, as June-2003 (
J03) batch, i have lost touched with almost 80% of my course mates, and i recently went for a gathering upon Bernice and Jin Wei's fb invitation.
Looking forward to meeting my peers, the turnout was not fantastic. For a batch of 100+ course mates, the gathering only had 7 people! i wasn't disappointed though, small gatherings are more personal and honestly speaking, those 7 people are people whom I speak to rather often/ or used to bump around in school.
*Thumbs up to Bernice and Jin Wei for your initiatives in organising this J03 meetup!
Here's a picture of us all, at Raffles City Shokodu:
(bottom up:)Left- Keng Cheng, Valerie, Bernice
Right- Jin Wei, Wicky, Viviana, me
Some close-up shots:
me & Viviana- she's a great runner, always participating in various sorts of runs
Wicky & Jin Wei, looking so boy-ish as ever-
They were so sweet to offer to help me carry my heavy load of magazines for the office. Somehow, i always get lovely and helpful friends who offer to help me carry stuff, be it Zaki helping to carry my backpack during the Mount Kinabalu hike, or Jin Wei & Wicky in this instance.
It's not that I'm a gu-niang, but more of them knowing of my sclerosis problem. Such nice friends, where to find!?!
We guys headed to Esplanade open-concert in the end..for free music that was pretty boring actually. Perhaps it was just me, who couldn't appreciate the "rock & roll w/0 action". I left early, leaving the rest of them to enjoy the concert, but before i left, took a picture with Valerie..She continued to stay on in NUS, not to study but to work as research assistant.
That is something I can't see myself doing, i absolutely loath STATISTICS. nightmares from tsai fen fang...l0lz..

Andrew's birthday
i should have known, the main reason why my blogger refused to all0w pict uploads, was because i was using a Firefox Browser!~!!
argh, i thought Firefox
was good. but it is proving to be highly unstable now, shall switch back to Safari again!
Now that my blogger admin page is back to norm, here we go! high definition picture uploads...some are outdated, but i absolutely have to share them on blog, as all of the events are the highlights in my boring life; my life revolves around loads of reads, time with dearest and working.
Starting with
Andrew's 30th birthday at Butter Factory:Andrew & Jennifer are my ex-colleagues from Meltwater, but only Jennifer is there now.
It was Andrew's 30th birthday, but Jennifer and him didn't tell us. We thought it was just a casual catch-up trip to Butter Factory. It was a first time for royun, Jennifer, Jessie & Howard though.
Anyway, there is not link between Howard-Jessie & Jennifer-Andrew, i just invited Jessie down, as i had to pass her my race-pack for Shape run, so she can pass to Gin to run in my place.
It was supposedly Shape Run the very next morning, and despite the early hours of reporting for the run + the golden rule of not dehydrating oneself by drinking liquor or caffeine, Jessie was still gamed enough to go clubbing. You go girl! =)
But there was this little joke anyway- My reason for not running was because i was down with bronchitis, and Jessie was asking
'Cannot go, can still CLUB??'*GUFFAWS*
what a joke really.
Before the party started, the place was almost vacant.
I realised that other than the view overlooking Marina Promenade waters, Butter Factory is just another club, and rather small in size.
Jennifer, Jessie, me, Andrew and Scott.
(*roy is the photographer)

jessie didn't stay long though. Some picts with her before she left with Howard:

At around 1am, the crowd started straming in, and the crowd were really young. Like JC/Poly kids and i felt the oldest really. And it also didn't help that the place was too small. So when you have many young sweaty people grooving on the dance floor, what i did was to drink more and watch. I'm not sure if clubbing has become the passe, or simply me bounded by laziness, i had no interest to join the enthusiats at all.
Nobody from my table was dancing, but Andrew and Roy started acting goofy under the influence of liquor. Evidental as shown:

And then Andrew, in a moment of stupor, posed a kiss on Jennifer's cheeks. I could potentially use this to blackmail Jennifer from now on...OFFICE SCANDAL!
wahaa :P
bumped into 2 friends at the VIP corner: Rachel...
Melissa Cheong
I'm not sure if this was rigged, but a girl presented Andrew with a bunch of balloons for his birthday, after the clock strike twelve. This must have been physically challenging, considering that we were at the furthest corner of the room, and this poor girl had to trod/ squeeze past so many bodies with a bunch of Helium balloons...
No easy feat!
How easy to make the birthday boy's day. His face lit up as brightly as the neon balloon :) pity we didnt prepare cake beforehand!

Royun left at 2am, we are so disciplined these day sthat staying up til wee hours to party is not common!

Full Circle
I wasn't playing "emo" in my previ0us entry, I just needed a channel to vent my frustration at work.
I guess in life, everything is fine and square.
I never had a 'complete, worry-free family' who can offer me support, and never will, but i have a bf who has unconditioned love for me.
I don't have fantastic colleagues at work, wh0m i truly enjoy working with, yet i have a bunch of true friends who will always stand by me, and always remind me, that i will emerge str0nger.
I am in a whole bunch of mess now, i can't wait for F1 season to come.
I just want to work my ass off, no time for myself, no time to dwell too much, and the money will come in handy for the family.
Many thanks & love t0 my beloved gfs, friends, my dearest roy b0y, and of course, my mum for her pillar of mental support, without which, i wouldn't have survived.

it takes sacrifice, and a lot of passion to make this work.
I'm not sure if i can pull it through really.
Despite decent pay working at a good company, I grew sick and unhappy and trapped in something I couldn't see myself doing for the long haul, or how a sales job could even develop into a career.
You do not need good qualifications to do sales- it is all about personality and the motivation to earn money- and that's all to sales, which is to meet sales target every month.
When i was 19, and a freshie in varsity, everything is a fabulous adventure.
I had always been interested in majoring in Psychology, and I thoroughly enjoyed all the modules in varsity, but i embarked on the psychology journey, knowing i will not pursue this field of studies as a career. Jobs evolving around psychology are simply laborious and boring- regardless of higher levels of studies, or full- time researcher, or clinical therapist, churning statistical information post-data collection, and staying cooped up indoors all day long are simply not me.
But now at 23, and making a huge change to decide to venture into PR when i have no prior experience nor relevant qualifications in journalism or mass comm, it is very terrifying.
Especially when my family depends on me heavily for bread & butter.
I keep assuring my mother that this will work out, but i am unassured myself.
It is a steep learning curve to start from scratch as an intern, when i have already graduated.
I am made to do data-entry work most of the time- archiving news monitored on client, doing quarterly media reports for clients, calculating media value, PR value, liasing with journalists. It seems the bottom rung of the PR ladder, and it is definitely a long climb.
Somehow, I enjoyed my past month of internship, despite the negative environment. It is the job i developed a passion for, not the colleagues nor company culture. I think I may move on to another PR firm after the internship, but I will continue to pursue PR, no matter what it takes.
It takes a lot of understanding from my family, which i am dissed by my parents, especially my dad. My previous job would have guaranteed us financial comfort and simple pleasures in life, but now, I am living the life of an impoverish student all over again, I hope I have made the correct decision, and i ask for the strength to continue with what I have decided.

NUS commencement 2009

my family is usually quite individualistic, with everyone having different working hours, and this is one memorable event that is collective.
mum and dad were so proud that i am the first "Juay" to be convocating, that for first time ever, mum made me go through her wardrobe on the eve, whereas dad had kind initiatives towards me for once.
i was so elated that i have my parents to myself for the entire day, and happy that they were happy =)
Many thank to dearie for taking the day off from sch + being my photographer of the day as well!

my dearest mummy & daddy, whom i seldom get to spend time with them!
this will be one of my most treasured photograph for many years to come!

and of course, with my friends.
unfortunately i wasn't feeling well that day, hence I didn't stay back to take pictures with coursemates...
on my way home, i actually vomited loads. it was real scary~
with Kelvin, my psychology peer

with Theresa, my psychology peer cum UCC usher ex-colleague

with Wei Wen, 1 of my closest coursemate until we got separated when i repeated 1 semester due to Miss Earth pageant

with Ashley, another of my psychology peer

with Yi Fei, my modelling friend who was there rooting for her younger sis, who convocated same day as me! what a small world!

with Doreen, my psychology mate. Missing the rest of the gang: where's Joe, Bi Ying and Lydia!

with Azlinda, my college classmate & NPCC colleague: someone whom i seldom see, but still keep in close contact with =)

with Yvonne and Geoorgina: the "girl-girlS"
my psychology peers who are 1 year after me, but i got to know them after i repeated the semester.
glad to have new friends in later stage of my uni-life!

with my Cedar NCC friends: Ling Fang, Joleen and Christina
they convocate on same day as me as they major in social work

with Jing Hui, fellow psychology peer + AJ netball mate

with Ruting, primary sch classmate whom we stayed in touch all these years
she majored in psychology too!

I think commencement ceremony was boring, and the hall appeared more like
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry instead of NUS. I even had a Albus Dumbledore look-alike chancellor presiding the ceremony (minus the dramatic white beard). The hype was more of meeting friends and taking photographs. and honestly speaking, i cannot be bothered with such ceremonies, it was more meaningful for my parents i guess..
